Windows Live Service/.NET Messenger Service是一个由微软公司开发的即时通讯和出席系统。它与微软的.NET Passport系统一起工作使用户能与其他在线用户收发即时消息。 正式使用.NET Messenger Service的客户端程序包括Windows Live Messenger, MSN Messenger, Windows Messenger 以及 Microsoft Messenger。等。第三方协力商客户端程序,如Gaim, Trillian和Miranda IM也可以连上共享服务。 这个服务也可以整合在微软Windows XP操作系统里，可随著用户签入签出Windows，自动、立即的帮助用户签入签出到.NET网络下。 最新的 Windows Live Messenger,版本是8.0 .而Windows Messenger则是5.1. 值得一提的事，早期微软与3COM开发的LAN Manager以及后来包括在Windows NT里的系统信使服务"Messenger Service"──有时用来向使用者显示一些弹出式广告。虽然这个服务的名称跟.NET Messenger Service相似, 可是他们间一点关系都没有.
